UPS Batteries

UPS batteries are critical to successful operation of a UPS unit. ORE Power offers a wide variety of UPS batteries -- supporting all OEM manufacturers. Not only does ORE Power sell and support all UPS battery manufacturers, we also sell and support different types of UPS batteries, including VRLA, lithium ion, and wet cell.

What Are UPS Batteries?

UPS batteries are a critical component of uninterruptible power supply systems, providing backup power during outages, voltage fluctuations, and utility failures. Whether supporting data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial operations, or mission-critical infrastructure, reliable UPS batteries ensure systems remain operational when power is disrupted.

UPS Battery Replacement & Installation

Over time, UPS batteries degrade and lose capacity, increasing the risk of unexpected downtime. ORE Power provides professional UPS battery replacement services to help ensure your power backup systems perform when they’re needed most.

Our team supports planned battery replacements, emergency service, and system upgrades for a wide range of UPS manufacturers and configurations.

Types of UPS Batteries

VRLA

Valve Regulated Lead Acid. VRLA batteries have been the most common type of batteries for UPS systems. They are a “sealed” battery that utilizes a starved electrolyte absorbed in a plate separator or formed into a gel. They offer a 10 year life span, but normally need to be replaced every 4-5 years.

Wet Cell

Wet cell batteries utilize a vent to allow gas to escape to the atmosphere. A wet cell battery is enclosed in large clear container so end users can inspect the levels of liquid electrolyte and condition of the lead plates. They're a more expensive battery, but offer a 20 year life span. They're normally replaced every 15-18 years.

Lithium Ion

Lithium-ion batteries consist of a cathode, an anode, and some chemistry of electrolyte. They offer an extended lifespan, increased power density, smaller footprint, and increased cycle life. They're expensive as well, but offer a 15-20 year life span and are normally replaced every 10-12 years.

UPS Battery FAQs

Q: How often should UPS batteries be replaced?

Most UPS batteries require replacement every 3–5 years, depending on usage, environment, and battery type.

Q: What happens if UPS batteries fail?

Failed UPS batteries can prevent backup power from engaging during an outage, potentially leading to data loss, equipment damage, or operational downtime.

Q: Can UPS batteries be replaced without shutting down systems?

In many cases, hot-swappable UPS battery systems allow replacement with minimal disruption, depending on system design.
